The best thing about Sea Duck Cottage is the activities and personalities that fit this luxury Maine rental. Children have a large yard, private beach and lots of local trails to explore. Blueberry farms, hiking trails, historical society, and a fantastic local library will be just some of the activities children enjoy. Sea Duck Cottage has books and puzzles if the weather is not conducive for enjoying the beach.
Sea Duck Cottage is a wonderful family destination. Children love watching lobster boats on Moosabec Reach, spotting bald eagles and harbor seals, and exploring the coastline. Parents should note that the property is directly on the water, so supervision near the water’s edge is important for young children at all times.
The Main House is a larger, spacious unit ideal for families or groups of up to six, with panoramic ocean views and a full kitchen.
The Guest House is a more intimate, private unit sleeping up to four — perfect for couples or small families. Both units are completely independent with their own entrances, kitchens, bathrooms, and living spaces. Neither unit shares walls, entrances, or common spaces with the other.
Yes. Both units sit directly on the coast of Maine with unobstructed water views. This is not a “water view” property where ocean is visible between buildings — the cottage is genuinely on the water’s edge with tidal views from the living areas and direct water access.
Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are less than 90 minutes west of Jonesport — an easy and scenic day trip along the Maine coast.
Many guests use Sea Duck Cottage as a quieter, more affordable base for visiting Acadia while enjoying the solitude of the Downeast coast at the end of each day.
There is no shortage of things to do. From the property you can watch lobster boats work the harbor, and spot wildlife including bald eagles, harbor seals, loons, and great blue herons.

The Downeast Institute also offers marine ecology programs and public events.
